Meet Levi: The Journey of a Mobihose Apprentice
At Mobihose, we believe in growing talent from within – it’s a core part of ensuring our values are lived throughout the business. One of our rising stars, Levi, recently shared his experience as an apprentice with us. Levi joined Mobihose’s hydraulic apprentice program straight out of school, ready to dive into the world of hydraulic and pneumatic repair. Now, he’s an essential part of our team, helping to keep our clients’ hydraulic equipment in top shape.
From Classroom to Construction Sites
Q: What drew you to an apprenticeship with Mobihose?
Levi: I’ve always been the kind of person who learns by getting stuck in. I wasn’t really interested in going to university; I wanted to start working and gaining practical skills.
When I met Seb (the owner of Mobihose), he talked me through all the opportunities here, like the chance to learn on the job and grow with the company. He talked about how hydraulic hose repairs are always in demand, especially with construction on the rise again, and how Mobihose really cares about building a team that’s not just technically great but also cares about the people they work with.
It just clicked for me – especially because Seb himself started out on a similar path. It felt like I could follow in his footsteps.
Q: What was it like starting out? Did you feel supported?
Levi: Oh, absolutely. From the first day, Leanne, our Office Manager, made sure I had everything I needed to get going. She’s brilliant, always checking in on us and making sure we’re sorted. I also got a lot of help from Alex (one of the experienced hydraulic repair specialists). He’s been with Mobihose for several years, so has seen and fixed just about everything. Working alongside him has been invaluable, especially for someone like me just starting out.
Growing with Mobihose
Q: What have you enjoyed the most about your apprenticeship so far?
Levi: I think it’s the variety. Some days, I’m out on a site helping to repair hydraulic hoses on heavy machinery, and other days I’m in the workshop assisting with hydraulic ram repairs. Seb and Alex have been great to learn from, and Basty, another apprentice, and I have had a lot of fun learning together. We’re all treated like part of the team, no matter how much experience we have.
Q: Has anything surprised you about the job?
Levi: I wasn’t expecting to get so much responsibility right off the bat. At Mobihose, you’re thrown into the deep end in the best way possible – you’re out there getting hands-on experience with clients, even during emergency callouts. Whether it’s pneumatic repairs or fixing a hydraulic pump, I’ve had a chance to learn by doing. And if I ever need help, I know Seb, Leanne, Alex, and the whole crew have got my back. The Future Looks Bright
Q: Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
Levi: I want to stay with Mobihose and keep moving forward. Seb and Leanne have always encouraged us to keep pushing ourselves, and I can see myself picking up more skills and becoming a real specialist in hydraulic repairs. Mobihose has a reputation for top-quality work, and I want to keep being a part of that. There’s a clear path for apprentices like me, and with guidance from Seb, Alex, and Leanne, I’m excited for what’s next.
Q: What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting an apprenticeship?
Levi: If you’re thinking about getting into hydraulic services, an apprenticeship is a great way to go. You might even find there’s room for you at Mobihose! You’ll get to work with experienced pros who’ll teach you everything from hydraulic hose fittings to emergency repairs. The support is great, and you’re not just fixing equipment – you’re helping businesses stay up and running.
